CFC Campaigns

We have been notified of some discrepancies between CFC payout reports produced by Andar and a spreadsheet containing calculations provided by OPM. We strongly believe that our calculations are accurate and we are currently discussing this with OPM. We will advise everyone when a conclusion is reached.

Fully Designated e-Pledge

---

Did you know that you can configure e-pledge such that the pledge amount is not entered and instead, the pledge amount is determined by the total designated amount? A web option called "Pledge Driven by Designation" will turn this feature on. This is a great option for fully designated campaigns such as some State employee campaigns.

Content Management

At this year's Users Group conference, Helix announced and demonstrated the new Content Management module. With this module, you can create newsletter content using Andar's article maintenance application, a visual editor that eliminates the need to know HTML coding. These articles can then be grouped into a newsletter and mass-e-mailed to everyone in a mailing list.

The setup process is done once and then each newsletter is fast and easy to publish.

Setup

• Download and install the stylesheets (templates) from the Helix web site. (click here)
• Create an article type using the Article Type maintenance application found under the e-Community, Administration menu. Ensure you click the "Group Articles By Date" checkbox. (Read more)
• Compose your articles using the Article Maintenance application found under the e-Community menu. Make sure you set the article status to "Published". (Read more)
• Create your Subscription using the Subscription Maintenance application under the Communications menu. The subscription groups everything you need together so Andar can manage everything for you. The subscription specifies the article type to use, the style name (template), the mailing list, the DMO to build the mailing list, etc. (Read more)

Sending e-Newsletters

• Compose your articles using the article maintenance application. (Read more)
• Open the Subscription Maintenance application found under the Communication. (Read more)
• Click on your Subscription.
• Click "Submit DMO" to refresh your mailing list.
• Click "Send e-Mail" to blast out your e-mail.
• Click refresh, note the number of e-mails sent, number read, number of clicks, etc.

JRun Being Phased Out

JRun is the application server software used as a bridge between the web server and Andar's e-Community Suite of products (including e-Pledge, Community Building, etc.) Adobe, the owners of JRun, have announced that they will no long enhance this product. Although this does not mean the product is dead, it appears to be slowly retiring. Helix has found "Tomcat", a replacement for JRun. Tomcat is open source, meaning completely free. It is also an extremely popular product used by many web sites around the world. There is no difference from the user or customer's point of view but the administration of the web server configuration is somewhat different. We have started the roll-out of new e-Community installations using Tomcat. Existing e-Pledge customers will be converted over the next two years.
