Consortium of United Way Execs Team with Helix Design Team to Create Sector's
First Outcome-based Module Integrated within Donor Management Program
(TORONTO, ONTARIO) – Outcome measurement and tracking has become a less burdensome task for time-crunched and short-staffed nonprofit organizations, thanks to the efforts of a group of United Way executives and a pioneering software company. The ad hoc United Way consortium teamed with Helix Data Processing Consultants, Ltd. to create the sector’s first allocations and outcomes module integrated within a single fundraising management database.
Integrated within the new Andar/360 for Fundraisers software, the new web-accessed technology automates the time-consuming paperwork process associated with grant making and related development activities. This enables local agencies to submit an entire funding application over the Internet. And, because the application is stored in a shared database, it is also fully accessible by the funder’s staff.
Other key benefits include reducing redundancies in forms and spreadsheets, eliminating the re-keying of data, and allowing for multi-office data access – and sharing. The end result: Nonprofit executives can more effectively allocate resources by gaining easy access to information such as the number of people helped by a particular program, areas that were affected most, and overall impact of a particular grant or funding level.
As the largest provider of fundraising management software within the United Way in the U.S., Helix was able to recruit a diverse cross-section of executives to help developers incorporate the flexibility needed to satisfy the marketplace. Included in the mix were development officials from markets such as Cincinnati, Toledo, Columbus, Louisville and Dayton.
More than a dozen United Ways are looking to upgrade their existing fundraising management systems this fall, prior to the beginning of the period in which the organizations begin their allocation process for the coming year. Many would like to scrap the cumbersome, paper-based process that consumes large chunks of administrative time.
“At a time when every nonprofit manager faces more tough questions from donors than ever before, the reality is that many have substantially less time and resources needed to respond to them,” said Helix Vice President Real Bedard. “The new outcomes and allocation module enables them to do that – and much more.”
